Here are some tips to a sparkling hob
Dos
Spray burners regularly with vinegar, soak for 10 minutes, then wipe with cloth
Once in a while, remove the burners and clean them. Wash all burners with lukewarm water and dishwashing detergent to remove initial film. Make a thick paste cleaner of baking soda and water. Coat all burners with paste and let stand for 20 minutes. Scrub the softened food residue with a scrub brush and rinse thoroughly. To clean the pores of a burner, an unwound paper clip or stiff wire can be used.
Wipe your stovetop after each use. Brush loose debris from stovetop regularly, and scrub with soapy water, or cleaner if needed.
Clean the areas where the burners and caps sit, with a toothbrush, then wipe with a cloth.
Dry the stove with a dry cloth after the wet wipe to prevent streaking and make it shine.
Don’t forget to also maintain your rangehood/ chimney. They work hard and absorb grease, moisture and cooking odours when you use your cooktop. As such, they need to be cleaned regularly to ensure they continue to ventilate effectively. Clean the metal with a non-abrasive cleaner or an ammonia and water solution.
For stubborn spills and stains you can use grate cleaner.
Dry all parts thoroughly before replacing them – placing them in a warm (but not hot!) oven for around 15 minutes is a good trick.
For a ceramic hob, use a ceramic hob scraper. The angle between your blade and hob should be kept relatively small to prevent any chance of scratching. Start from the outside of the ring and, keeping your scraper relatively flat. Use firm, back-and-forth movements to gradually chip away at the stains.
For induction hob, use a soft cloth along with glass ceramic cooktop cream for cleaning the surface. Use a dry towel to clean off the cooktop after pouring some cleaning cream over the surface. For cleaning stainless steel component, use grain for wiping the surface. Make sure to choose non-abrasive cleaner such as soapy water for cleaning the stainless steel surface. Take care of any watermarks on your induction cooktop.
Remove hard water spots. Use undiluted white vinegar with a clean cloth and then apply some cooktop cleaner cream to add to the final touch.
To prevent the formation of rust on the underside of the grates, apply a light coating of mineral oil.
Removable knobs can be washed in warm, soapy water and scrubbed gently if necessary – just remember to dry them thoroughly before you replace them. Those that can’t be removed can be wiped with a damp cloth and then polished with a soft, clean, dry cloth.
Don’ts
Pour water over the cooktop itself as excess water can prevent ignition when you come to use it again.
Use a toothpick or cocktail stick to clean the burner holes in case the wood snaps in the holes
Spray cleaning liquid directly onto the control panel. Instead, spray some on a damp cloth and then wipe the surface.
Don’t use abrasive pads or harsh cleaning products on the knobs or the decal indicators can be worn off. Many control knobs can be removed and cleaned in soapy water.
Don’t be in a hurry to clean up. Once you are done the cooking, wait for the burner cap, burner head, and the grates to cool down.
Don’t overfill your pans. Prevent overflows by reducing the amount you use, or use a bigger pan. It might be an inconvenience, but it will save on hassle later.
Do not use these cleaners: Chlorine bleach cleaners, Metal souring pads, Flammable cleaners, Caustic cleaners, Dishwashing agents, Scrub sponges, Powdery cleaners
